On March 20th, 2024, the Infant Formula Made in America Act was introduced to the Senate. It’s fairly similar to the Protect Infant Formula From Contamination Act, primarily because both acts were written with the intention of reducing infant formula shortages in America. The main difference is that this bill requires that a fraction of the formula supplied be domestically manufactured. By doing this, families will hopefully see a decrease in food insecurities for their babies. This would also keep households from relying too heavily on imports, which would (in theory) make it easier to put more formula on the shelves.
